Little Critter's These Are My Pets (A Golden Easy Reader)
Published in Paperback by Golden Pr (March, 1992)
Author: Mercer Mayer
Average review score:

Great for Beginning Readers
This title by Mercer Mayer is one of my favorite for early readers. As a teacher, I'm always on the lookout for books that will "hook" young readers and give them the confidence they need to read independently. This book is a perfect mixture of familiar pattern and new storyline. The topic is animals, so most kids are interested from the start. The text is nicely spaced on the page. All of these factors contribute to the title's success with young readers.

Little Golden Book Classics: Three Best-Loved Tales: The Three Bears/the Cow Went over the Mountain/Hop, Little Kangaroo!/3 Books in 1 (Little Gold)

GREAT STORIES ABOUT BEING HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE
THE STORIES IN THIS BOOK TEACH CHILDREN THAT BEING HAPPY WITH WHAT THEY HAVE IS THE BEST THING THEY CAN DO. THE COW OVER THE MOUNTAIN TEACHES THAT THINGS MAY LOOK BETTER FAR AWAY, BUT UP CLOSE THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN WHAT IS ALREADY NEAR THEM. THIS BOOK ALSO TEACHES CHILDREN TO BE PROUD OF WHO THEY ARE AND THEIR OWN ABILITIES.

Enjoyed the age old tale - but most importantly loved the colorful and captivating illustrations.

Little Stevie Wonder in Places Under the Sun: Golden Sound Story With Braille
Published in Hardcover by Golden Pr (March, 1995)
Author: Sidelines
Average review score:

Fun in the Sun with Little Stevie Wonder
I really enjoyed this book! As a First Grade teacher it is so nice to see multicultural stories written for children. This story journeys from New York to Japan and as far as Africa. It introduces the reader to ways to say hello in three languages. The sounds on the book were created by Stevie Wonder in his studio and fit the text very nicely. I plan on using this book in my class as a way to open a discussion on blindness and an introiduction to Braille!

The London bus and underground review : Golden Jubilee year 1983
Published in Unknown Binding by Regent Press, in association with the London Passenger Transport League ()
Author: Jim Blake
Average review score:

London Transport's 50th anniversary and final Jubilee
London Transport celebrated fifty years of existence as a bus and tube operator in 1983, never for a moment realising it would expire shabbily eleven years later. Superb events were laid on comprising the repaint of buses into classic liveries, culminating in the spectacular event at Aldenham Bus Overhaul Works, which would close in three years. Meanwhile the Routemaster was under attack and tube stock was being updated. Jim Blake is the author of several London bus books, with a colossal photo library to stock them with. His books have a rich grasp of local history which gives life to the minutiae enthusiasts demand

Longarm and the Golden Death (Longarm No. 178)
Published in Paperback by Jove Pubns (October, 1993)
Author: Tabor Evans
Average review score:

Oldie but a goodie!
This older Longarm entry has a complex plot, plenty of action, and enough humor for seasoning. The best Longarm stories are the ones that are as much mysteries as Westerns, and this one certainly qualifies. If you're a fan of the series, you can't go wrong with this one.

The Longest Race
Published in Hardcover by W.W. Norton & Company (February, 1983)
Author: Hal Roth
Average review score:

How 9 men attempted the longest singlehanded adventure.
This is the story of 9 men attempting the greatest adventure around the earth: solo circumnavigation non-stop. You will find excerpts from Moitessier`s Longue Route, Crowhurst`s last voyage...

It is a chronographical description of nine races, as each sailor was on a world of his own. Each boat has it`s own noises, it`s own history and all nine are well blended together.

An excellent book about the pionneers of solo sailing

Look at You, Baby Face! (Golden Super Shape Books)
Published in Paperback by Golden Pr (July, 1998)
Authors: Madeline Carter and Keaf Holliday
Average review score:

A Toddler Capturer
The illustrations in this book completely capture my daughter while I read the words EVERY time! She absolutely loves the life-like smiles and tears each of the baby faces reveal. With each page and each new expressions shown on the baby faces, her expression also changes and it is obvious that she is internalizing the feelings written and illustrated. It is absolutely a must for all babies. A must for those babies that may show a lack of interest in books. And a definite must for all African American babies. Madeline Carter and Keaf Holliday hit the nail on the head with this one!

Look, Listen and Love: With Finger Puppets (Powerpuff Girls)
Published in Hardcover by Golden Books Pub Co Inc (November, 1900)
Author: Golden Books
Average review score:

Great book to encourage cooperation with children
If you are looking for a book that will encourage your child to help you out around the house, I highly recommend this title. It is basic and sweet, covering all the basics that Mommies do around the house and at the store with a toddler underfoot. I started reading this to my son when he was an infant and he is not 18 months old and all I have to say to him is, " Would you like to help Mommy do ..." and he gets a big smile on his face. It is subliminal parenting at it's best.
